Why I care strongly about freedom.

There are several layers to this.

The CCP killed my great-grandfather and grandmother

My family immigrated from China. The predominant reason was to avoid the Chinese Communist Party.

Lately, it's been disappointing to see the presence of China-sympathizers in America. I want to make the distinction I do not dislike Chinese people, it's China the government I have a distaste for. People who sympathize for China resemble Nazi-sympathizers at a lesser degree.

The CCP has caused nothing but harm for my family.

My great-grandfather worked closely with U.S. government officials, and was offered opportunities for his family to emigrate to the U.S. He stayed because of his loyalty for China.

He believed in the CCP.

What was he repaid with? The CCP sent him to work at labor camps. His wealth was seized. His health was strained and what remained was his premature death.

His daugher (my grandmother) had to move away from the family due to financial struggles. She did meet my grandfather and thus my Mom was born. But due to poor health, my grandmother died when my Mom was still an infant. It's hard to convince me my grandmother's early death was not partially caused by the CCP stealing from my family.

It's important we don't let the U.S. reach a similar level of tyranny.

At a health-level

I have chronic inflammatory arthritis. For years, I was not treated. I developed pain in my hips, knees, and shoulders.

Loss of health is scary. You lose so many options in life.
